My roots in St. Paul
Minneapolis, MN
My great grandfather moved to this country in the early 1900’s. He settled in St. Paul and built a house for the family in the Midway area of town. The house is still there today. It’s humbling to think about his decision to build a life for our family in St. Paul and how that choice affected so much of the history of my family. I can imagine all of the generation of families that have lived in that one house since he built it and recognized that my family shares a bond with them through the little house that he built. I can almost see the generations of handprints in the freshly poured cement of the front sidewalk. How many children played in the front yard, grew up knowing and loving St. Paul? Very few of my family members still live in the area. Most are scattered through out the country, even the world. I have a brother who lives in London. My dad lives in Texas. And who knows where my son will one day live. But we all know that we came from St. Paul.
